Project Management Office (PMO)

Tronmaster establishes a Project Management Office (PMO) for their clients as a means of achieving a greater degree of success in project management. As part of its Charter, the PMO creates and maintains a documented Project Management Methodology for all projects. This methodology is designed to meet the needs of all organization segments as they engage in project work. It serves as a guide to the organization as it selects its projects, to project teams as they plan the work, to management as they supply the required oversight, and to Sponsors and Customers as they collaborate in designing and delivering new business systems. This methodology is intended to be consistent with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®). It should apply equally well to and meet the requirements of large and small projects. Various templates are available to support this methodology.

PURPOSE

This document describes in detail the process Tronmaster intends to use during the initiating, planning, managing (controlling and executing), and closing stages of technology projects.

In defining this methodology, the PMO hopes to reach the following goals:

  • Provide a common point of reference and a shared vocabulary for talking and writing about the practice of project management for technology projects within their client's enterprise
  • Increase the awareness and professionalism of sound Project Management Practice by those charged with the responsibilities defined in the methodology.
  • Define the roles of the Executive Committee, Sponsor, Project Manager, Stakeholders, Technical and Business Leads, and other team members and obtain consensus within the organization about their importance as Critical Success Factors (CSF).
  • Create the basis for a collaborative environment in which everyone engaged in technical project work understands what is required of them and why those requirements are key to improving project results.

Tronmaster Methodology Overview: We believe we are successful only when your organization achieves the benefits sought from implementing products. To ensure this success, we have developed our proprietary Implementation Methodology, which draws on the knowledge base of our staff, whose combined experience totals over 50 years. Using our implementation methodology, our consultants begin each project with a proven comprehensive toolkit, which ensures a complete solution and reduces the project timeline. This is a customized PMO setup solution containing over 40 documents. It consists of tools, processes, templates, and metrics designed with your company name and logo tailored to your needs. In addition, we will provide 40 hours of implementation, deployment, and phone, email, and web-ex-related support.

Business Continuity and Disaster Planning Program (BCP/DRP)

A disaster is a disruption of business operations for an unacceptable period. Disruptions can encompass an array of issues from central and regional to local site events that prevent or preclude returning to a work site, including:

  • Floods
  • Electrical problems
  • Regional disasters
  • Fires
  • Terrorist activities
  • And so on.

This document provides a comprehensive program that includes policy, standards, procedures, and guidelines for establishing custom business continuation and disaster recovery planning in an organization.  The document provides guidelines for developing, maintaining, and testing business continuation plans.  More importantly, the document seeks to guide planning effective resumption strategies for critical business operations within stated recovery time objectives defined by individual organizational units. Adherence to the developed standards and guidelines helps ensure that all business continuation plans are consistent across the organization and that they address all the planning requirements that will facilitate an efficient recovery and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, where applicable.

The organization’s policy should be that all business groups, subsidiaries, and corporate departments must-have business continuation plans that address business outages, such as disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and restoration.  Plans should be developed and maintained based on ongoing risk management and business impact analysis reviews.  Plans must be reviewed and tested according to Business Continuation standard timelines. The objectives of this program are to:

Define procedures that will allow the organization to respond appropriately to

  • A business disruption
  • Identify key individuals who will manage the process of recovering the business after a disaster
  • Identify the teams that will complete the specific activities necessary for emergency response and recovery
  • Specify the critical business functions that need to continue after a disaster
  • Outline the logistics of recovering critical business functions
  • Catalog interdependencies and resources that can assist in this process
  • Establish procedures for the release of information to employees and the public
  • Ensure the safety of employees and visitors of the organization.

This program contains information, procedures, templates, forms, guidelines, and reference material for defining and establishing the Emergency, Recovery, and Restoration operations in the event of a disruption affecting an organization facility with the means to maintain business continuity effectively and organized. This program contains information, methods, templates, forms, guidelines, and reference material for defining and establishing the Emergency, Recovery, and Restoration operations in the event of a disruption affecting an organization facility with the means to maintain business continuity effectively and organized.
